Meet at the station for the trip to the Botanical Gardens (http://www.hortusharen.nl/) in Haren. We meet at the place where the canal boats leave, opposite Central Station. (Look for people in yellow shirts, waving a sign with the conference poster). If you have a reduced-fare card for the train, please bring it with you. (Cell phone numbers to reach the organisation of the trip: 06-13098028 [Astrid] en 06-22635462 [Sijmen]). We’ll have lunch with the Mennonite congregation of Haren. In the afternoon we’ll play the game ‘Who is the mole?’. This game will be played in the inner city of Groningen. You’ll be split up into several groups and have to do assignments in the city. One of the group members has secretly been pointed out to be the mole – that means that he/she has to try and sabotage the assignments without being caught.
16.30 hr
The Information and the Conference café are open.
17.30 hr
Dinner. Before we’ll eat, Geert Kimpen will introduce us to the rituals of the Jewish celebration of the Sabbath. Two candles will be lit to welcome the Shekina, the female side of God, and to inspire us. With Geert Kimpen as a host, you will get to know the tradition as it is celebrated every Friday evening since Moses’ time. In the candle light you’ll experience simple, but intense rituals, and the rich symbolism that enables you to fall in love again with each other, with your neighbours and with life will be revealed to you. Simple love customs, rooted in age-old knowledge from the Torah, will be revealed to you. Under the warm light of the Shekina you’ll discover the power of love, wisdom and inspiration.inspiratie

Meals

The kitchen team has let itself be inspired by the theme ‘What’s your destination?’ and has chosen a special theme for the meals: the exodus from Egypt to the promised land. Egyptian, recipes, Jewish recepes – come and taste them!

Costs

60 euros. This is the amount for the entire congress including meals. You can also sign up for parts of the congress. During the congress activities we serve coffee and thee. Any other drinks you can purchase with a ‘zuiplap’. This is a coupon that can be bought at the congress administration.

Overnight stay

If you need a sleeping-place, we advise you to register as soon as soon as possible. The available sleeping-places are limited and we follow the rule: first come, first served. If there are no more sleeping-places available or if you want to be sure that you have a sleeping-place in the city centre, then you can book a room in the Simplon Youth Hostel, which is a 5 minute walk from the church and the city centre. You will have to make your own reservation! For reservations contact the youth hostel at www.simplonjongerenhotel.nl or +31 50-3135221. If you choose to sleep in the youth hostel, we will pay part of your costs, namely € 7,50 per night. Please pay the bill first and then take it to the Administration where you will receive your money

Place

The conference takes place in and around the Mennonite church of Groningen, Oude Boteringestraat 33.
